We won! World’s best milk-based coffee and roaster at 2022 Golden Bean World Series

Just as the Socceroos went up against football superpower Argentina, The Coffee Commune battled the best of the best in the Golden Bean World Series 2022. This prestigious competition, held in Hawaii from 29 November – 2 December, was a culmination of the battle between Northern and Southern Hemisphere to see who would be named the best coffee roaster in the world.

Judged by industry luminaries, only previous North American and Australiasian champions and winners in gold and silver are eligible to compete.

Of each of the three categories to be judged – Espresso, Milk and Filter – The Coffee Commune received the most points in each, taking out Gold in the Milk category.

The win was achieved with a blend of two Colombian beans: a Sidra variety from the El Diviso plantation, with flavours of dark chocolate and Turkish delight; and a Mokka variety from Cafe Granja La Esperanza, with flavours of caramel and red berries. The delightfully sweet blend was expertly roasted on the Kaleido M1 Coffee Roasting machine, launched on 15 December 2022.

Winner of the World’s best milk-based coffee and roaster at 2022 Golden Bean World Series

In response to the award, our founder Phillip Di Bella said:

“What a way to finish the year. Congratulations to my incredible team who sourced, created, roasted and perfected the winning coffee entries.”

Phillip also paid tribute to the industry in Australia for the “amazing coffee culture we enjoy in this country, which nurtures such great talent. Now we need to make sure we keep the momentum going so the industry stays strong.

“Skills, fuel and supply shortages have exacerbated an already difficult marketplace, which has made one thing abundantly clear here at The Coffee Commune – to be sustainable we need to work together as an industry, so that the industry can grow stronger, and, by sharing ideas, we can become more viable and profitable businesses.”

Our World Series winning blend is now available to purchase from our online shop for a limited time only.
